Paul Cook's latest acquisition, who is capable of playing on the wing or up front, will be a welcome addition to the attacking options in the team, which was in need of improvement having lost Padraig Amond and Lee McEvilly in the 2nd half of last season.
Greene joines the club with alot of potential, and he wasted no time in making an early impression in the league with Galway United in 2009. Greene joined United from St. Francis F.C., and an injury hit squad meant it was an oppurtunity for Greene to shine, and that he did. Notching up 5 goals in 14 games, and a stand out performer many of those, Greene was soon being tracked by many top Irish clubs. League Champions Bohemians' won the race for his signature, where he was brought in as back up to the attack and wings. Although only scoring 1 goal, Greene put in some notable performances for The Gypsies, but due to financial difficulties, he was one of many players released last January.
Greene went to nPower League 1 side Peterborough United on trial, but turned the offer of another week long trial to enter talks with Sligo Rovers. Greene was widely expected to sign after coming on as a sub in Sligo Rovers 2-4 friendly victory over Salthill Devon on Saturday.
Aaron is the 3rd Bohs player to join the club for next season, following the arrival of defender Jason McGuinness and the return of Rafael Cretaro, and brings the total number of signings up to 5.
In related transfer news Ronan Finn has today also been linked with the club, following the cancellation of his contract by troubled Dublin side Sporting Fingal.
Greene is The Bit O' Red's 17th player to sign for the upcoming season.
